Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein Promotes Two Senior Counsel to Partner

The firm is pleased to announce that it has promoted two of its senior counsel, Brian Comack and Max Vern. to partner.

Brian A. Comack has extensive experience handling a broad range of intellectual property rights matters, including litigation, patent prosecution, opinions, and licensing. Patent litigation and inter partes review proceedings have been a focal point of his practice. Brian has focused on patent issues in diverse high technology areas such as liquid crystal displays, laser induced fluorescence detectors, disposable absorbent products, high speed manufacturing equipment and processes, lithographic printing plates, laser ablation, photocopiers, printers, computer software and hardware, web-based methods, telephony, biomedical devices, rechargeable batteries, photomasks, semiconductors, and business methods.

Brian graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He attended Brooklyn Law School where graduated in 1998. He is admitted to practice in all New York State courts, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Supreme Court of the United States, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Max Vern has been practicing Intellectual Property law since 1996. Max works with globally leading brand owners to secure and enforce their intellectual property rights around the world, focusing on acquiring trademark rights and protecting their trademark portfolios. This work encompasses trademark searches and opinions, filing, prosecution, due diligence, licensing, acquisitions, and enforcement of rights as well as IP monetization. The firm’s international practice encompasses a wide range of industries - electronics, entertainment, retail, fashion, banking, oil & gas, aviation, medical products and pharmaceuticals, food products and services, construction, real estate and others.

For the last several years, Max has been the head of the firm’s International Department. He is admitted to practice law in New York State and in Israel.

Max’ background, extensive international experience and multilingual capabilities facilitate communications and a thorough understanding of the requirements of intellectual property owners and protection of their U.S. and global interests. For example, he works with a major U.S. retail chain that manufactures and sells worldwide, a leading European commercial and investment bank, Far-Eastern pharmaceutical companies seeking protection in the United States, a major entertainment consortium pursuing global rights protection, several European ”haute couture” clients, a leading foreign broadcasting corporation operating in the United States, Chinese and Japanese industrial giants with vested U.S. interests and South American, European and Russian oil and gas companies, to name a few. In addition to English, Max is fluent in Russian and Hebrew and is conversant in French and German.
