Armed with deep technical and legal expertise, Doug litigates patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and trade secret cases in district and appellate courts throughout the country in a wide variety of fields, including fashion and retail, cosmetics, consumer products, mechanical, electrical, healthcare, ceramics, steel making, refractories, medical devices and Internet-related technologies. His approach to litigation does not always result in contesting matters in court, but often leads to sensible business solution's through alternate dispute resolution when appropriate, among other means.
Doug also prosecutes and helps clients create and manage strategic patent and trademark portfolios that deliver lasting business value. He counsels businesses in many industries including hospitals and other health care providers on not only how to establish intellectual property programs, but how to monetize intellectual property though licensing and technology transfer.
Doug is a member of IP bar associations including the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA) where he co-chairs the fashion law committee as well as the Intellectual Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association where he co-chairs the patent law committee.
